The Cumbria charity truck fair 2022 has raised a record amount of money for Macmillan cancer support.

Organised by long haul truckers Paul Bower and Paul Salkeld, this year’s event raised over £43,00 over the whole weekend.

The money was raised with sponsorships from haulage firms, exhibiting lorry drivers and members of the public visiting this family run event.

The biennial event has now raised more than £123,000 for Macmillan which organiser Paul Bower said, ‘made him proud’.

The event was started in 2016 as Carlisle’s first truck fair and making it a charity event ‘seemed the right thing to do’ according to Mr Bower.

The event has gone from strength to strength, breaking it's fundraising total every year.

This year’s fair was the biggest ever with 450 lorries and up 9,000 people in attendance, all looked after by a small group of loyal volunteers.

The legendary Irish singer Paul Kenny, ever popular with the trucking community, was the headline act on the main stage.

Plans are already underway to invest the money in the local area with the organisers presenting a cheque to Macmillan in the coming weeks.
