A RECORD amount of over £13,000 was raised for Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland at Kendal Calling music festival last month.

Hospice at Home provides nursing care and support at home for people at the end of life.

A team of dedicated volunteers and staff formed the ‘sunflower team’ who sold sunflower badges and headbands to festival goers.

Sunflowers are the recognised symbols of hospice care - and people at Kendal Calling certainly took them to heart by decorating their hats, clothes and tents.

"This was our best fundraising year ever with over £13,000 generously given," said fundraiser for Hospice at Home, Cath Coates.

"This means that we can continue to provide many, many hours of care and comfort to local patients, families and carers and will make a huge difference in our local community."

Ms Coates also passed on a 'huge thank you' to all those who donated money and to all the volunteers who gave their time to help raise money.

Volunteers have been raising funds for Hospice at Home at Kendal Calling since 2011 and have raised nearly £75,000 in the last 11 years at the festival.
