A CANONBIE man has been given a restraining order after he admitted harassing a woman by repeatedly making unwanted visits to her home.

Aleyn Dinwoodie, 31, committed the offence at Welton, south of Carlisle, between August 23 last year and November 20, magistrates at the city’s Rickergate court heard.

He knew or ought to have known his behaviour amounted to harassment, said the charge.

After hearing an outline of the facts, District Judge John Temperley imposed 100 hours of unpaid work and the restraining order. This will remain in force until July 29 of next year.

This forbids the defendant from making any contact with the victim. His sentence was reduced by one third because of Dinwoodie’s early guilty plea. The defendant must also pay £85 prosecution costs and a £95 victim surcharge.
