GET ready to be dancing in the moonlight as the much-loved feel good rockers Toploader are set to entertain fans at Carlisle’s Old Fire Station later this month.

The band, who have backed the likes of Paul Weller, Robbie Williams, Noel Gallagher, will play at the venue on August 12.

The show is one of a number of live performances the band are doing from August into the autumn and comes as they are also in full festival season mode, performing every weekend at locations across the country.

"It’s a massive circuit and so it keeps us occupied from May through to September," said guitarist Dan Hipgrave, who is one of three original members still in the band alongside singer Joseph Washbourn and drummer Rob Green.

"This will be a rare club show in the middle of a long summer of playing in fields so we’re looking forward to playing inside.

"We’ve been so super busy and we’re firing on all cylinders so we’re looking forward to a great night," he said.

Since forming in 1997 the band have released four albums and are in the process of putting together a new EP.

"Musically we are very positive with high energy vibes.

"Our main focus is on playing live these days and so we’re producing material that’s going to work well with an audience. The songs we write are the ones that bring energy to a set.

"We love playing together just as much as we ever did. We were all mates when we started and we’re all still mates now. We really still enjoy what we do and I think if you didn't enjoy it then there wouldn't be any point.

"I think the older you get the more confident you get in your own ability. We've been doing it for 25 years now and we're all very aware of what we need to do on stage. We just go out and really enjoy it.

"For us, it's not work, it's the best hobby in the world. All we care about is going out just making sure that everyone who's watching us has the best time," he said.

Tickets for Toploader at The Old Fire Station are priced at £17.50 and are available online at oldfirestation.carlisle.city
