POLICE have confirmed that the teenager found on Wigton Road with a head injury remains in a ‘serious condition’.

The man, in his late teens, was found on Wigton Road between the Caldewgate roundabout and junctions of Granville Road and Stanhope Road, Carlisle at around 4:15am on July 31.

Subsequently, he was then taken to Cumberland Infirmary.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward that may have seen the teenager, prior to or after the incident. He was wearing a black jumper, navy jeans and black trainers at the time.

It is believed he travelled from town via Castle Way.

Wigton Road remained closed for a period of time yesterday whilst the incident was investigated.

A spokesperson from Cumbria Constabulary said: “Circumstances remain under investigation and the injured party remains in a serious condition.”
