A CARLISLE man charged with assaulting a woman and intentionally causing her grievous bodily harm is to appear before the city’s crown court.
Ben Queen, 27, of Colville Terrace, Denton Holme, is alleged to have committed the offence on August 4 last year in Carlisle against a female. The defendant made a brief appearance at Carlisle’s Rickergate Magistrates’ Court.
He did did not enter or indicate a plea.
The court heard that the allegation Queen is facing – causing grievous bodily harm with intent to do so – can only be dealt with by a crown court. The case was sent to Carlisle Crown Court for a hearing on September 2.
The defendant, who was represented in court by defence lawyer Jeff Smith, was granted bail until his next court appearance.
That bail has two conditions: firstly that the defendant has not contact, directly of indirectly, with the alleged victim; and secondly that he does not go to Harold Street, Carlisle.
The hearing lasted about ten mintues.
