A local coffee shop has just been handed a four-out-of-five food hygiene rating

The Penny Farthing Coffee House, on Cecil Street, was given the score after assessment on June 21, the Food Standards Agency's website shows.

The standards found by the Food Standards Agency shows that the coffee house received a 'very good' rating for hygiene food handling, 'generally satisfactory' for cleanliness and condition of facilities and another 'general satisfactory' for management of food safety.

It means that of Carlisle's 201 restaurants, cafes and canteens with ratings, 179 (89 per cent) have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.
