The Copeland neighbourhood policing team and partners have been highlighting their year-round work as part of anti-social behaviour awareness week.

Officers and partners within the local focus hub have held a number of events to target local issues, engage with the community and highlight the work of partners.

The events have been chosen based on hot spot areas of anti-social behaviour this includes fly tipping, littering and the anti-social use of vehicles.

Data published last month revealed that anti-social behaviour in Cumbria had reduced by 9.4% in when comparing the financial year of 2021/22 with 2019/20.

Sergeant Dave MacDonald, from the Copeland Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "The ASB awareness week has given police and partners the opportunity to highlight local issues and engage with the community.

"These events are just some of the things we do to tackle ASB issues with a lot going on behind the scenes with partners to understand the issue so we can work together to create solutions.

"The team and partners will continue to address issues raised by the communities and we encourage the public to continue to report issues of concern."

On Thursday, July 21 officers and partners from Copeland Borough Council, Cumbria County Council, Cumbria Fire and Rescue and The Phoenix Youth Project held an engagement event in Cleator Moor Square.

The event was an opportunity to speak to residents and let them know of the activities and events on offer for kids this summer.

The next day officers from the neighbourhood policing team with the mobile support group carried out high visibility patrols as part of Operation Endorse in the Cleator Moor area which aims to target illegal and anti-social use of off-road vehicles and E-scooters in public places and on public roads.

No issues were found during the patrols, we encourage the public to report incident of anti-social use of motor vehicles and off-road vehicles.
