THIS weeks nostalgia goes back in time to the years from 1990 to 1999. We looked back through our archives and discovered pictures from throughout the decade in Cumbria.

As the millenium drew to a close, the 90s saw new events come into practice such a 24-hour shopping and Sunday trading. The National Lottery was launched and the internet took over.

Homes in the 90s were developing and things such as mobile phones, dishwashers, personal computers, mobile phones, widescreen TVs, DVDs and digital cameras. Almost all homes had a washing machine and phones were becoming smaller.

In 1991, the World Wide Web became readily available to the public. The Sony Playstation was launched in 1994 and by 1998, there were 130 million web users.

There were many successful British bands who made a big impact in the United States and Europe in the 90s. These include Radiohead, Oasis, Blur, Pulp, Massive Attack and The Spice Girls.

Some of the most popular fashion pieces in the 90s include puffa jackets, slogan/graphic t-shirts, trainers and tracksuits.
