Keeping the kids entertained over summer is no easy feat, but a day out at Brockhole on Windermere offers boundless fun and outdoor recreation for all ages.

Start the day high-up in the ancient woodland canopy at Treetop Trek, where you must swing, climb, balance, and fly your way through the trees, with over 30 challenging obstacles suspended up to 18 metres high.

This exhilarating aerial adventure is perfect for the whole family and finishes with an ultimate 250-metre triple zip-wire descent, where up to three people can race each other back down to the shores of Windermere.

Those with little ones can still get involved with all the woodland fun at ‘Treetop Nets’.

These giant bouncy nets are safely suspended and fully enclosed up between the canopy, allowing kids aged 3-years and over to run free without a harness.

The Nets are an amazing way to spend a day outdoors, with super-fast slides, tunnels, giant ball zones and even a brand-new airbag obstacle which challenges fearless adventurers (aged 7 years+) to ‘walk the plank’ before freefalling a whopping 5-metres into the soft airbag below.

Once you’ve had your fill of treetop adventure, head over to the Brockhole café for a delicious lunch with views to match.

Dine on the terrace and enjoy the spectacular views across Windermere and the extensive gardens below.

Alternatively pick up a few picnic supplies from Brockhole’s ‘Garden Shed’ and enjoy a lazy summer picnic on the lawn, with plenty of space for the kids to play.

The fun continues well into the afternoon, as the Brockhole visitor centre has a whole host of family activities to choose from.

Test your skills at krazy karts, enjoy a bit of friendly competition at mini golf, or go back to basics and learn the art of archery.

If the sun is shining, why not head out on the water with a guided kayak tour, or hire a SUP for the afternoon?

Remember to always check the forecast, dress for the weather, and always wear a life jacket.

All in all, a day out at the flagship Brockhole site offers hours of endless fun with activities to entertain all ages.

Treetop Trek is open daily, from 9am to 5pm – and has different courses to suit all abilities, ages, and confidence levels.
