The M6 Northbound between Carlisle North and Gretna has finally been reopened following yesterday's HGV collision yesterday evening. (Thursday July 14).
Road resurfacing has now been completed after a road traffic collision involving two HGVs.
The stretch of M6 was closed whilst emergency services extinguished a lorry fire and Highways England had to resurface a small part of the M6 at the scene.
Nobody was seriously injured.
Highways England announced the reopening at 12.34pm however severe delays have been reported with a 7 mile stretch of backed up traffic that needs to be cleared.
This incident is now clear, and the #M6 northbound in #Cumbria is now fully OPEN within J44 (#Carlisle).
