AN EDEN woman who has admitted being drunk while in charge of a motor vehicle has kept her driving licence.
Fiona Helen Mathison, 55, of Skirsgill Lane, Eamont Bridge, near Penrith, was originally charged with drink driving but prosecutors accepted her guilty plea to the lesser charge.
She committed the offence on June 25 when she was in charge of a Citroen car at Middlegate in Penrith. At the time, Carlisle’s Rickergate court heard, she had 97mcg of alcohol in 100mls of breath.
The legal limit for driving is 35mcg.
Magistrates fined the defendant £120, with a £48 victim surcharge and £85 prosecution costs. The court imposed 10 points on her driving licence, with magistrates warning that two or more points will result in a ban.
