THREE male youths have been arrested for burglary and criminal damage following vandalism and a suspected break-in attempt at a Penrith sports club.
Members and staff of Penrith Cricket Club, at Tynefield Park, arrived on site on July 5, to see that boulders had smashed through their outdoor seating area alongside damage to one of the premise windows, suggesting that someone may have tried to commit an act of burglary.
Subsequently, a spokesperson from Eden Police, said: "We are aware of an incident which occurred at Penrith Cricket Club on Tuesday morning.
"Officers from Eden have arrested 3 male youths from the Penrith area for Burglary & Criminal damage.
"They have since been bailed whilst we conduct enquiries. Please contact us if you have information," they said.
Members of the cricket club have spoken out about how they were "devastated" upon the discovery of the initial vandalism.
