Penrith woman acquitted of careless driving charge

A PENRITH woman has wept in court after she was acquitted of a charge which had alleged her careless driving caused the death of a pensioner following a collision at a town road junction.

Susan Strong, 49, went on trial at Carlisle Crown Court this week after being prosecuted following a tragedy which occurred on October 14, 2019.

Paul Adams, 74, of Workington, found guilty of sexually abusing two boys

A WORKINGTON pensioner has been convicted of sexually abusing two teenage boys — and told he will inevitably receive a prison sentence.

A judge has also asked the probation service to prepare a dangerousness assessment in the case of 74-year-old Paul Stuart Adams, a former teacher and pastoral head who also worked in West Cumbria theatres and on a freelance basis for the BBC.
