AN 18-year-old was brought before a court after threatening to burn down a Wetherspoons pub.

Jerry Constable, of Fitz Road, Cockermouth, threatened a police officer that he would burn down JD Wetherspoon in Keswick on June 14.

He also obstructed another police officer in the exercise of his powers under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, in Cockermouth, on the same day.

Constable pleaded guilty to threatening to damage or destroy property and obstructing a police officer in exercise of his power to detain or search a person or vehicle for temporary class drugs.

He appeared at Workington Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

Constable was given an eight-week curfew, to run daily from 7pm to 6am. He must pay £85 costs and a £95 victim surcharge.
