A CARLISLE based housebuilder has submitted plans for 1,300 homes in Lancashire.

Story Homes has submitted an outline planning application to South Ribble Borough Council to build the homes as a sustainable community in Samlesbury.

The Cuerdale Garden Village is expected to bring a £225 million economic boost to the area, creating more than 400 jobs throughout the construction and 3,000 on completion.

As well as much needed housing, the proposals from Story Homes whose head office is in Carlisle, will include 160,000sqm of new employment space, a community centre, and a primary school.

The city is leading the way in developing sustainable housing as Carlisle City Council has recently received an award for its consultation with the public on St Cuthbert’s Garden Village.

The joint venture will see 10,000 homes built south of Carlisle in the next 30 years.

Story Homes’ submission to expand their offering in the North West with Cuerdale Garden Village follows "an extensive public consultation, which generated significant feedback, including a high volume of registrations of interest in purchasing a new home."

John Winstanley, Managing Director of Strategic Land at Story Homes, said: "Over the past eight years Story Homes has been expanding across the north west, bringing more of our high-quality homes to the region. As our business continues to mature, we are committed to identifying new land opportunities in the north of England to sustainably grow the business and secure its long-term future.

"We are proud to bring forward plans for Cuerdale Garden Village, which have been thoroughly designed with place-making at the core, demonstrating our commitment to delivering an exemplar Garden Village.”
