PLANS have been lodged with Carlisle City Council to build three, five bedroom homes as a “small building group.”

An planning application has been received by the city council to build the three dwellings on a “redundant agricultural paddock” adjacent to a dwelling known as Sandy Hill in the Brampton area.

Permission has already been given to build home on the site in outline, the latest application provides more information as well as amendments so that each home has its own means of access.

Each of the dwellings will also have a detached garage.

The applicant has revised the initial proposals to include visibility splays of 2.4m by 60m which Cumbria County Council, as highways authority has said can be achieved.

In supporting statements, Harraby Green Associates, as agent said: “Each dwelling is to be constructed externally with red multi bricks, buff sandstone detailing and grey slate roofs.

“On the matter of character of the settlement, the site is contained by the house to the south, the existing hedging and trees to the west and north.

“The site is viewed as being part of the village in terms of proximity and relationship and is consistent with the overall scale and form of Faugh.”

The proposed layout is for each house to have three car parking spaces each.

The site is currently vacant but is used occasionally as grazing by a small amount of sheep in Spring and Autumn.

If approved, the homes would be built within the settlement boundary of the village of Faugh.

An ecological assessment and contaminated land risk assessment have been carried out as part of the application process and site meetings were held with council officers when outline planning permission was granted in 2021.

The public can view and comment on all applications submitted to Carlisle City Council for approval.

Councillors will take comments of support or objection into account when giving a verdict.
