South Lakeland's motorists will have three road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And they are all are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing holdups of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• A590, from 9.30am March 23 to 6am July 9, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A590 eastbound and westbound, at Backbarrow, traffic signals and traffic signals with convoy working.

• A590, from 8pm September 4 2021 to 6am July 30 2022, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A590 eastbound and westbound, Swarthmoor, Convoy working for Construction of new four arm roundabout to replace the current staggered junction.

And one more closure will begin over the next seven days:

• M6, from 10pm July 3 to 9pm July 12, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6, junction 35 to 36 northbound and southbound, Lane three closures for inspections of CR and Cyclic grass cutting/safety fence/drainage works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
