Police have asked for residents' help after numerous crimes were committed in Hexhamshire around Slaley, Dipton Mill, and Hexham Racecourse area.

Some of the crimes included burglary, theft of fuel, and suspicious vehicles in convoy towing a quad.

A force spokesman said: "Incidents appear to be happening in the early hours of the morning.

"We ask for vigilance from the community, reporting of any suspicious vehicles or people, especially concerns of those in convoy with trailers.

"This can include activity during the day, especially around rural homes and farm buildings.

"We'd be grateful to know if anyone has any CCTV or dash-cam footage of suspicious activity that may lead to obtaining the registrations and identities of those responsible.

"The police are increasing patrols in the areas and we wish to reassure people that Tynedale remains an extremely safe place to live."
