Police are investigating a brutal assault in Carlisle that left a male victim hospitalised. 

The incident, which police describe as 'GBH-level', took place at 8pm on Wednesday, June 22 on Lightfoot Drive, Carlisle.

The report is of a man being hit and kicked by three other men.

A van and a scooter or bike may also have been at the scene of the attack.

A 39-year-old man from Carlisle was arrested on suspicion of attempted GBH.

He has been released under investigation.

A man in his 30’s was taken to Cumberland Infirmary Carlisle and has since been discharged.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area and seen anything suspicious or witnessed the incident, or anyone with CCTV, dashcam or other footage.
