A LONGTOWN man has been found not guilty of an alleged assault during which prosecutors said he brandished a pair of scissors.

Christopher Hogg, 46, was cleared of the allegation after a trial at Carlisle's Rickergate Magistrates' Court. Throughout the prosecution process, he denied ever brandishing scissors or assaulting the alleged victim.

Prosecutors said the attack happened on a female victim in Carlisle on November 17 last year while the defendant was allegedly intoxicated.

After hearing evidence, magistrates delivered their not guilty verdict. The defendant's address was previously given as Arthuret Drive, Longtown.
