TWO Carlisle men are facing a crown court trial over multiple allegations of violence and weapon carrying.

Ryan Mark O’Neil,41, of Henderson Road, Currock, and Ricky O’Neil, 33, of Rydal Place, have both entered not guilty pleas to all of the charges they are facing, linked to alleged events earlier this month.

The allegations against Ricky O’Neil relating to June 15, are:

  • That on June 15 he “intentionally strangled” a female.
  • That he made a threat to kill the same person, intending her to believe that this threat would be carried out.
  • That he subjected the same female to an assault by beating.

This defendant also faces charges arising out of alleged events on June 18, Carlisle’s Rickergate Magistrates’ Court heard. Those charges are:

  • That he assaulted a man, causing him actual bodily harm.
  • That he assaulted a second man, also causing him actual bodily harm.
  • And that he illegally possessed a knife in Atkinson Crescent, Harraby, Carlisle.

Ryan Mark O’Neil is also accused of actual bodily harm assaults on the same two males allegedly attacked by Ricky O’Neil, also on June 18. 

He is additionally charged with assaulting a police officer, and illegally carrying a knife in Atkinson Crescent.

Magistrates adjourned the case for a trial and sent the case of both men to Carlisle Crown Court for a hearing on July 18. Both men were remanded in custody until that day. Both were represented by defence lawyer Anthony Wilson.
