HOUSE prices in Carlisle increased by 1 per cent in April, newly-released figures show.

The average Carlisle house price in April was £156,531, Land Registry figures show – a 1 per cent increase on March.

Over the month, the picture was different to that across the North West, where prices increased by 2 per cent, and Carlisle was lower than the 1.1 per cent rise for the UK as a whole.

The rise is in line with a longer trend which has seen house prices in the area increase by over 11 per cent in the past year alone.
