NEWLYWEDS who first met as pupils enjoyed the 'best day of their lives' after tying the knot in front of their nearest and dearest.

Bethany Jane Davies, 27, a nurse from Kendal, has married Jack Gater, 27, an assistant building surveyor during a wedding ceremony in Kendal.

The couple, who are both from Kendal, first met as pupils at Kirkbie Kendal School.

Beth said: "I absolutely love Jack's sense of humour and ability to make everyone smile.

"Jack is kind, caring and very loving."

"Beth is the most compassionate person I know," Jack added.

"She’s clever and I love everything about her."

The smitten pair got engaged on June 21 2020 when both sets of parents came around to visit.

Beth said: "Jack arranged for both of our parents to come round to our garden the day we had lived in our house for a year.

"We were just chatting and he popped the question, it was perfect."

Beth described the proposal as a 'huge surprise'.

"Jack had asked for my dad's permission which means the world to me," she said.

The lovestruck couple said 'I do' during a ceremony at The Villa at Levens, tying the knot at 1pm in front of 111 guests.

The newlyweds described the wedding as the 'best day of their lives' and felt 'so touched' by everyone's efforts and love.

They said: "The day was the best day of our lives, from start to finish.

"Everything went so smoothly and was everything we imagined and more.

"The weather was just perfect and we couldn’t have wished for better."

The pair said the dance floor was full the entire day and described the speeches as 'fantastic.

"From the minute the dance floor opened it was full until the end of the evening," they added.

"The speeches were fantastic from tears to laughter they were just brilliant.

"For us, having every single person we love in a room at one time was just perfect, we are so touched by everyone’s efforts and love, everybody looked beautiful."

For their honeymoon, the newlyweds enjoyed a break to Corfu and had the 'most chilled, relaxing time'.
