THE COUNCIL has received word that operators of Mission House intend to continue using the property as a home for children in care.

Allerdale Council has received the certificate of lawful development which allows the operators to continue using Mission House at Langrigg, Wigton as a home for children in care.

The plans to continue using the property as a children in care facility has been submitted on behalf of leading childcare provider Wilderness Way.

A statement submitted with the plans informs the council that the envisaged length of stay at the property would be 12 months.

More than two members of staff would be working in the property at all times and a maximum of two children would be staying at Mission House at any one time.

The statement prepared for Allerdale Council reads: “There would six carers in total for the Property. Changeover times are during the day and there would not be any comings and goings at unsociable hours."

“In addition to the carers, a manager would be based at the Property for up to 25 hours per week. This would mean that there could be up to three members of staff at any one time.

"A social worker may visit the Property every month for approximately 1.5 hours."

“Family members will see the children either at the Property or at the family member’s home, with visits varying in frequency, time and length.”

Carers would have their own bedroom for when they area staying over at the property.

No internal changes will be made to the property to facilitate the works.

The public can view and comment on all applications submitted to Allerdale Borough Council for approval.

Councillors on the planning panel will take comments of support or objection into account when giving their verdict on plans.
