THE COUNCIL has received word of plans to install a solar power system on the roof of Energus in Lillyhall.

Allerdale Council has received prior notification of plans to install a roof mounted solar panel system at Energus in the Lillyhall Industrial Estate.

The system would be made up of 658 Canadian Solar 380 watt panels.

Council has received prior notification to determine whether planning permission will be required before carrying out the work.

Energus is a conference and training venue serving West Cumbria’s businesses, in particular those comprising the Energy Coast.

The section of Lillyhall at Blackwood Road also hosts Energy Coast UTC.

Businesses, individuals and organisations are considering renewables in increasing numbers to reduce their impact on the environment as well as offset the soaring cost of energy.

The public can view and comment on all applications submitted to Allerdale Borough Council for approval.

Councillors on the development panel will take comments of support or objection into account when making a decision on planning applications.
