Cragwood Country House Hotel is wedding venue of the year

The company's Cragwood Country House Hotel received the award at the 12th annual North West Wedding Venue competition.

Merewood Country House Hotel and Briery Wood Country House Hotel, the two remaining hotels within the Lake District Country Hotels’ collection, also received recognition and were selected as finalists for the award, with Cragwood Hotel taking the crown.

Amy Jenkin, marketing executive at Lake District Country Hotels, said: “It’s a huge achievement for our Cragwood hotel to be named the winner among many other venues in the region, as well as recognition for our other hotels, and we’re honoured to represent Cumbria and the Lake District.

“The English Lake District World Heritage site has been voted the most romantic destination in the UK, so of course, we strive to guarantee a wedding day to be cherished for eternity with our venues and wedding packages.

"This is not the first time that the Cragwood Hotel has been acknowledged, as it was recently voted ‘Best Wedding Venue in The North West’ in the 2022 Wedding Industry Awards.

"Additionally, the hotel was a regional finalist in The Wedding Industry Awards in 2020 – a time which was particularly difficult for the industry due to Covid-19.

“The pandemic proved to be a struggle for couples awaiting their wedding, with the option to place the day on hold or opt for an intimate ceremony.

"However, we understood the stress that many people were facing and have always aimed to reduce this as much as possible and ensured that their wedding at our Cragwood hotel was nothing short of perfect,” Amy said.

Despite restrictions lifting, many couples still desire a small wedding.

"As a result, the hotel now offers large or intimate packages."

Amy concluded: “We’re thankful that the experience we offer at Cragwood has been appreciated by newly-weds, and our hard work has led us to this moment of winning the award.”
