The Met Office does not predict the heatwave to hit Cumbria at the end of this week.

While some isolated parts of the south-east could reach 30 degrees celsius, it is not expected for any major population in Cumbria to reach heatwave temperatures.

The Met Office measures a heatwave as three consecutive days above 25 degrees celsius.

The last time that happened in Cumbria was July 16-18 2021.

However Cumbria will become warmer this week with the rest of the country. Kendal will hit 22 degress celsius on Friday and Barrow will hit 20 degrees.

A level 1 heat alert was put on northern England but this is to prepare authorities for future warm weather later in the summer.

It is unusual in the UK for temperatures to hit heatwave temperatures in June.

According to Met Office Meteorologist Dan Rudman:  "The heat is a result of a mix of home-grown warming in the day due to high pressure, as well as a southerly airflow introducing some of the warm air from the continent to UK shores."
