THE Mayor of Wigton made a very special effort to mark the jubilee - as part of celebrations in the town.
Wigton Mayor Christopher Scott, donned his union jack suit and cowboy hat , alongside his mayoral chains to celebrate the occasion.
Mr Scott said the public loved his fashion choice for the day with some people even comparing him to heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury- who is also known to like a fancy suit.
Talkng about the reaction Mr Scott said: "I thought I would dress up for the occasion, it went down really well, everyoe was wanting pictures and things like that.
"People were coming up to me saying they thought I looked a bit like Tyson Fury."
The fun dress up from the mayor was to attend the Wigton Town Council Jubilee Party, that was organised by the town council as well as volunteers in the town.
The day featured entertainment for families, food stalls and a big screen which broadcast the concert at Buckingham Palace on Saturday evening.
The Mayor estimated that up to one thousand people turned up at different points throughout the day, which he said was 'great fun'.
He said: "It was just a great fun day, I would love to see more days like that in Wigton, especially after covid when people haven't been out much, it was nice to see the comunity come together again."
