WORKINGTON RNLI volunteers were involved in a six hour rescue of a fishing boat in distress 25 miles off Whitehaven.
The volunteer crew was called at 9.55am on Saturday June 4 to launch the all weather lifeboat after the vessel which had suffered engine failure radioed for help.
They reached the 28ft boat, which had one person aboard, and towed it to Whitehaven.
The crew reached Whitehaven at 3.20pm and the boat was back at Workington station by 4pm.
It is second time in a month the Workington crew have been out on a rescue for more than five hours.
