THE CITY council has been asked to approve the expansion of active leisure facilities in Willowholme to expand a business’s offering and 'move with the times'.
Bosses of the Fusion Trampoline Park on Millrace Road have ambitions to open an external adventure park on land at their premises.
However, when the business was given approval to open the trampoline park at Willowholme Industrial Estate in 2016, a condition was imposed that the premises could only be used for this activity.

The council has now received an application from The Jump Company Carlisle Ltd to vary the conditions, allowing an adventure golf park to be built at the site.
Illustrations submitted to the council reveal that the adventure golf park has a Carlisle theme, exploring the city’s Roman links and iconic locations.
Proposals for the site also include the creation of an overflow car park to cope with demand.
In supporting statements, the applicant said: “Trampoline Parks throughout the country have developed considerably since the Carlisle Park was formed in 2016 and most parks now incorporate a variety of children’s leisure facilities including climbing walls, soft play areas, laser quest areas, electric go karts and adventure golf parks.
“We feel it is necessary to ensure the future viability of the site to continually develop the facilities and provide an exciting arena incorporating more facilities than just trampolines.”
They hope that a colourful adventure park activity will bring redundant land on the site to life.
The applicant does not anticipate that the business’s new look will present any issues with access.

The Jump Company Carlisle said: “Access will be through the existing trampoline park reception and will use the same facilities including the reception, café, WCs and party rooms.”
There will be level access to the facility and the business will be fully wheelchair accessible.
Existing parking accommodates approximately 100 cars and the applicant intends to create an additional 41 spaces in the creation of a new overflow car park.
