WORKINGTON MP Mark Jenkinson has confirmed he is continuing to back the Prime Minister- saying that he has 'no intention' of submitting a letter on no confidence in Boris Johnson.

The MP has said that he believes his constituents 'overwhelmingly' want him and the Prime Minister to continue getting on 'with the job' that they were elected to do in 2019.

Posting the statement on twitter, Mark Jenkinson Mp said: "It looks like it’s a week for ego massage and self-aggrandising statements about MPs inflated opinion of themselves. So here’s mine

"In a responce to a number of media enquiries today, I haven't submitted a letter of no confidence and have no intention of doing so. I'm not in the habit of doing the Labour Party's bidding.

"I do not assume my constituents opinions, and so spend a significant amount of time seeking them out in person. They're very clear to me about what my priorities should be, and on the reasons they voted for me and the Prime Minister in 2019.

"Overwhelmingly , they are keen for us both to get on with the job of delivering on our promises to them, which is what my focus continues to be.

"I am clear in my mind that I am here to seve my constituents. As I've spent the last two years, I'll continue to spend every waking minute to deliver on the promises we made -ensuring that I can repay the trust placed in me and the Conservative Party.

"I know that I have the full backing of the Prime Minister and the cabinet in that mission."
