WIGTON’S Beavers and Cubs were delighted to receive a visit from Danny, a disabled dog from Miracle’s Mission.

None of the children had seen a dog who did not have working back legs and they were amazed at how Danny was able to scoot around and see them all, as they sat in a circle.

News and Star: HAPPY: Group leader Julie Bryceson insists that Danny gets on with life despite his strugglesHAPPY: Group leader Julie Bryceson insists that Danny gets on with life despite his struggles

Group leader Julie Bryceson said: “We have children of all abilities, shapes and sizes and we stress from the day they join the group that everyone can be happy with how they are and that it is good to be different.

“Danny is such a happy dog and I was able to explain that he didn’t know he was different, he just got on with life and had fun and that’s the important thing, being happy with what you have.”

The children were incredibly interested in everything about Danny and could scarcely believe that he had been left to die after being hit by a car.

Julie explained that he was lucky, a kind person found him and got him to Miracle’s Mission, where he grew stronger and was then able to come to England for specialist care.

Julie said: “I wanted the children to see that even if life was difficult at times, you could still be happy.”
