A POPULAR Cumbrian post office will relocate into a former hardware store, after the resignation of the postmaster late last month.
The Post Office is proposing to relocate Cockermouth Post Office to a new location - 4 Station Street, Cockermouth just a short walk from the former premises on 12 Station Street.
Subject to consultation, the former Firns Home Hardware Store premises, which are currently empty would undergo a full refurbishment to incorporate a cards, stationery and confectionery store alongside Cockermouth Post Office.
A spokesman for the Post Office said: "The current Postmaster has resigned, and the premises at 12 Station Street, Cockermouth, CA13 9QW will no longer be available for Post Office use.
"We have therefore had to identify an alternative location to continue to offer Post Office services to the local community."
