MAGISTRATES in Carlisle have approved a Cumbria Police application for a 28-day domestic violence protection order which will ban a man from seeing a woman for the next 28 days.
Darren Oliver, 50, was not in court when the order was applied for.
Magistrates at the city's Rickergate court ruled that the defendant, of Morton Rigg, Carlisle, is now banned from contacting the named woman and nor can he go to the street in the city where she lives.
Such orders are made when magistrates rule that the defendant, on the balance of probabilities, has subjected the protected person to violence or the threat of violence. The order is civil in nature but breaching one is a criminal offence.
