50 NEW homes will be built in Carlisle.

Persimmon Homes confirmed its plans for these homes as the latest phase of its Speckled Wood development.

The 3.6-acre site will provide a range of two, three and four-bedroom homes, including bungalows, designed to suit local buyers, according to Persimmon Homes.

Andrew Laing, land director for Persimmon Homes Lancashire, said: “We are delighted to have secured the land for this development which will bring much-needed new homes and significant investment to the community.

“Alongside the 50 properties – of which 10 will be transferred to a housing association partner – we will make financial contributions of around £200,000 towards education and off-site sports provision to benefit local residents.

“In line with our commitment to creating healthy and sustainable communities, the development will also provide significant open space with existing hedgerows retained where possible and additional planting.

“A new homes development of this nature has the potential to support more than 150 jobs – both those directly employed in building the site, and indirectly through the supply chain and additional spending within the neighbourhood."
