A SHOPLIFTER who stole high-value alcohol from two supermarkets has been given a community order.
At Carlisle’s Rickergate Magistrates’ Court, Kane David Queen, 28, of Lindisfarne Street, Carlisle, pleaded guilty to the following theft offences, all committed on dates in April:
- Stealing alcohol and other items, worth £140, from Sainsbury’s in Penrith, on March 28 last year.
- Stealing alcohol valued at £171 from Sainsburys in Penrith on April 14 last year.
- Stealing alcohol worth £398 from Booths Supermarket in Penrith on April 18.
- Stealing alcohol of an unknown value from Booths Supermarket in Penrith on April 20 last year.
After hearing the details, magistrates imposed a community order which will include 100 hours of unpaid work over the next 12-months and 20 Probation Service activity days.
Queen was also ordered to pay £264 in compensation. The figure represents part of the value of the stolen goods because there was a second defendant who also pleaded guilty to some of the same offences.
