THIS past weekend people from up and down the country descended upon Keswick to enjoy the annual Mountain Festival.
Events like the Festival have been a welcome return for the public, allowing us to get to enjoy the outdoors after spending so many months hidden away due to the pandemic.
The News and Star, Times and Star and Whitehaven News came together to ask their readers on social media what were the best things to do in their area at the weekend.

Ten things people in north Cumbria like to do in their area on a Saturday include:
Visit the beach – As soon as the sun beats down there’s obviously nothing better than heading out for a sandy stroll on our coastlines.
Parkrun – The events are great for socialising, and you don’t even need to lace up your running shoes! Voluntary positions are always available to help set up the courses.
Visit Talkin Tarn – We are so blessed to be in an area with some of the most gorgeous scenery the UK has to offer and the country park is just one of many areas you can visit for a walk or a cycle.
Fishing - Excellent for your health and wellbeing, Cumbria has more fishing waters than any other county in England.
Ullswater – Like Talkin Tarn and country parks, Ullswater is one of the many lakes in Cumbria that offers stunning views of the area.
Carlisle and Cleator Cricket Club – A couple of readers enjoy heading to their local cricket clubs to sit outside and enjoy a cold pint.
Head to the pub – Although the football season is drawing to a close, heading out on the town with your friends for a couple of drinks is always a deserved treat at the end of the working week.
Fusion Trampoline – There are many fun spots for the kids in Cumbria. One reader chose this Carlisle attraction as somewhere you must go at the weekend.
Fell climbing – The more adventurous of us use the nice weather to hike up one or more of the 214 located on the Lakes.
Ice cream – Whether it’s Mawson’s, Davison’s or Twentymans, the north of Cumbria has an abundance of scrumptious ice creams to try on a sunny day!
