Illegal: The defendant had hundreds of child abuse images, the court heard.
A WORKINGTON man has been put on the Sex Offender Register after he admitted possessing child abuse images.
At Carlisle Crown Court, Mark Garbutt, 55, whose address has previously been listed on court documtents as Railbank Drive, Workington, entered guilty pleas to the following four offences:
- Possessing four Category A indecent images of children (the most serious category of abuse images).
- Possessing 11 Category B indecent images of children.
- Possessing 336 Category C indecent child images.
- And distributing two Category C indecent images of children.
The defendant, a man of previous good character, was granted bail until the day he is sentenced, which the judge in the case said will be on June 30.
A condition of that bail was that he can have no unsupervised contact with any child.
The length of time he will remain on the Sex Offender Register will be determined by the nature and length of the sentence he receives.
