Fines totalling more than £11,000 have been given out to people for failing to attend a meeting as part of investigations into fly-tipping.

At recent Carlisle Magistrates’ Court hearings, Carlisle City Council had the following successful prosecutions:

  • A man from Gateshead who failed to attend an interview into the investigation of fly-tipping at Moor Road, Longtown has been found guilty and fined £2000 together with costs of £1000 and a victim surcharge of £190. Total £3190.
  • A man from Carlisle who failed to attend an interview into the investigation of fly-tipping at Moorhouse Road, Carlisle has been found guilty and fined £1000 together with costs of £339.85 and a victim surcharge of £100. Total £1439.85.
  • A man from Carlisle who failed to attend an interview into the investigation of fly-tipping at Cumwhinton Road, Carlisle has been found guilty and fined £660 together with costs of £408.47 and a victim surcharge of £66. Total £1134.47.
  • A man from Carlisle who failed to attend an interview into the investigation of fly-tipping on the Scotby to Wetheral Road, Carlisle has been found guilty and fined £660 together with costs of £408.45 and a victim surcharge of £66. Total £1134.45.
  • A woman from Carlisle who failed to attend an interview into the investigation of fly-tipping on Reeth Road, Carlisle has been found guilty and fined £660 together with costs of £340 and a victim surcharge of £66. Total £1066.
  • A man from Carlisle who failed to attend an interview into the investigation of fly-tipping at Tesco Bring Site, Carlisle has been found guilty and fined £440 together with costs of £391.32 and a victim surcharge of £44. Total £875.32.
  • A woman from Carlisle who failed to attend an interview into the investigation of fly-tipping at Tesco bring site, Carlisle has been found guilty and fined £440 together with costs of £391.32 and a victim surcharge of £44. Total £875.32.
  • A man from Carlisle who failed to attend an interview into the investigation of fly-tipping in Beaumont, Carlisle has been found guilty and fined £440 together with costs of £269.44 and a victim surcharge of £44. Total £753.44.
  • A woman from Carlisle who failed to attend an interview into the investigation of fly-tipping in Beaumont, Carlisle has been found guilty and fined £220 together with costs of £200 and a victim surcharge of £34. Total £454.
  • A woman from Carlisle who failed to attend an interview into the investigation of fly-tipping on Silloth Street, Carlisle has been found guilty and fined £220 together with costs of £200 and a victim surcharge of £32. Total £452.

Carlisle City Council would like to remind people that if they are contacted by the Council then they should not ignore any requests for information as action will be taken in the Courts.
