Live Irish Country Music nights at Rosley Village Hall are back in full swing after nearly two years due to the Covid 19 lockdown.

Already host to two well-attended shows this year, they are looking forward to welcoming back firm favourite Stephen Smyth and his band on Sunday May 29.

Stephen is regarded as Ireland’s most versatile singer. He started his career playing in ‘Shotgun’, Philomena Begley’s backing band, and has played with many fine Irish acts, including The Indians, Dominic Kirwan and Declan Nerney.

The Stephen Smyth band, originally founded in 2005, consists of Stephen Smyth on lead vocals, lead guitar, pedal steel, fiddle, saxophone and whistle, alongside John Taylor on keyboards and saxophone,  and Chris Blair on lead vocals, guitar and banjo.

The band tours extensively all over Ireland, the UK, Europe and the USA.

Organiser Adele Egglestone said: “Covid took a heavy toll on the live music industry, and we cancelled all shows at Rosley for nearly 20 months.

"We are pleased to be back up and running, and delighted to see the hall back in use for live music.

"The break gave the hall a chance for re-decoration and alterations, which has resulted in a bigger dance floor."

"We have had to change the way we run to make it safer for everyone - one of those changes is by limiting tickets which can be bought in advance.

It’s great to see the acts coming over from Ireland again, and we are lucky to have a strong following in Cumbria.

"We are looking forward to welcoming Stephen, John and Chris back on Sunday 29th May as they always put on a fine show of country.

"Irish and popular music - which gets everyone up on the dancefloor, the hands clapping and the feet tapping.”

Tickets are priced at £15 and can be bought from Adele on 07706 597132.  The show starts at 8pm with doors open at 7pm.
