A FEMALE driver has been arrested after a man and woman were killed in car crash in Flimby on Sunday morning. 

Police officers were contacted at 12.08am with a report of a crash involving a vehicle and two pedestrians on the A596 at Flimby yesterday, May 15.

The two pedestrians, a man in his forties and a woman in her thirties, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The single vehicle collision involved a Nissan Qashqai.

A 30-year-old woman from west Cumbria was arrested on suspicion of two counts of causing death by dangerous driving.

She was later bailed.

Police are appealing for witnesses or information following the collision.
