TO coincide with the man some call the ‘Bard of Rock ‘n’ Roll’ turning 80 years old during the pandemic, one singer will perform some well-known classics in Carlisle this week.

Simply Dylan, which will take the audience on a journey through the career of Bob Dylan, takes place at the Old Fire Station on Friday, May 20.

The show has been billed as a tribute to Bob Dylan, not a Bob Dylan tribute.

No frills, no gimmicks, no pretence, Simply Dylan is John O'Connell's personal exploration and celebration of the rich and diverse work of the singer, born Robert Zimmerman.

The performance is no ordinary interpretation, and is a remarkable and exceptional project which promises to delight Dylan fans young and old and to ignite a new wave of passion for one of the world's most prodigious songwriters.

Simon Wilson from the Nottingham Post writes: "John manages to let you ponder every sentence, with every word pronounced and sung with integrity. It makes you treasure the greatest artist of all time even more.”

The venue and bar will be open from 6.45pm, with the show starting at 8pm.

Tickets for Simply Dylan cost £24.75 and can be purchased on the Old Fire Station’s website.
