Police are looking into an incident in which they believe petrol has been poured through a Workington home letterbox. 

One man was seen fleeing on foot from the property, on Elterwater Avenue, at around 10pm on May 7. 

A spokesperson from Cumbria Constabulary said: "Police are investigating an incident where a liquid believed to be petrol has been poured through the letterbox of an address on Elterwater Avenue, Workington.

"The incident occurred just after 8pm on Saturday 7th May.

"A male described as white, with facial stubble and wearing all black clothing has then been disturbed at the rear of the same address later on in the evening at around 10pm. The male ran away from the scene on foot in the direction of Grasmere Avenue.
