A LAKE District hotel worker has been jailed after he admitted stealing £90 from the till.
Simon Daniel Evans, 33, stole the money from the Albert Hotel in Windermere on September 2 last year, Carlisle’s Rickergate Magistrates's Court heard. He pleaded guilty.
He also admitted two further offences – stealing £30 from a named person on the same day in September last year and failing to surrender when required to two courts when required: Barrow Magistrates Court on September 20 last year and Swansea Magistrates’ Court a month later.
The court heard that magistrates in Glamorgan had sentenced the defendant, imposing nine weeks custody.
They noted that the defendant, who had a history of failing to comply with court orders, had used his newly-appointed job to steal from the hotel’s till and take tips from a jar.
No compensation was awarded as the hotel suffered no loss, the court record shows. The defendant’s guilty plea was taken into account.
