AFTER days of teasing a new main stage headliner, Solfest have announced the return of a fan favourite to the festival.

The Levellers are set to play at the festival. The Brighton-based band released their new album 'Peace' in August 2020, which was band's first studio album of new material in eight years.

Solfest teased the recent addition with several clues such as "Hint: It's a Solfest Classic."

Solfest finally announced the added musical talent via their Twitter and wrote: "We’re not going to lie when we say we’re ecstatic about this!"

The Levellers were among the most popular indie bands in Britain in the early 1990s, and headlined at the Glastonbury festival in 1994, where they performed to a record crowd of 300,000.

The band took their name from the 17th-century 'Levellers' political movement.

Solfest's first wave of artists, which included the likes of the Charlatans, Seasick Steve, Zutons and Ash, were annouced in March.

Other acts include Pendulum, Orbital, Sugarhill Gang, Fruitbats, Gentleman’s Dub Club, BC Camplight, Dutty Moonshine Big Band and Rave Circus Unit Slamboree.

Organisers of the festival expect the event to be one of the most exciting event in the history of Solfest with their ambitious line up.

Solfest hosted their festival in 2021 after being forced to postpone due to Covid and recorded another successful year. The festival received support from the Cultural Recovery fund which allowed them to expand their lineup.

The festival has pledged increased production, bigger screens... and outdoor lasers.

The festival is due to take place from August 25 to August 28.
