A popular inn has entered the semi finals of a prestigious award.

The Howard Arms in Brampton broke the news this week of their entry into the semi finals of the British Institute of Innkeeping's (BII Licensee of the Year Award this year.

Writing about the good news on their Facebook page, a spokesperson from The Howard Arms said: "Next stage meeting with the judges on Tuesday.

"A massive well done and a big thank you to all of our fantastic team, and a huge thank you to our amazing customers for supporting us every step of the way."

The award is described by the team from The Howard Arms as the Oscars of the pub world.

A spokesperson from BII described the awards: "Being the most prestigious award for an individual or partnership of licensees in our industry, we are excited to be hosting these awards again.

"Sponsored by Sky, the Licensee of the Year Award is widely regarded as the most rigorous and hard-fought award for individual licensee operators in the UK.

"Last year, the entries throughout the process were of a particularly high standard, and so we look forward to meeting more skilled and dedicated operators this year.

"This year's Licensee of the Year will be crowned at our Summer Event on June 21, 2022."
