A 22 YEAR-year-old fell runner was rescued after she was injured while taking part in a multi day event in the Lakes.

Keswick Mountain Rescue team were called out at 13.19pm on Saturday,April 30 to the incident after the runner went over on her ankle at the top of Rigg Beck, between Ard Crags and Scar Crags.

Event support including a medic attended and requested Mountain Rescue assistance for the casualty’s evacuation.

Her condition was deemed serious enough to call the air ambulance which was fortunately available.

On arrival the team assisted with medical care before loading the casualty onto a stretcher for a short carry up to the helicopter which was able to land on the col above.

A spokesman for Keswick Mountain Rescue Team said: "Many thanks to the Great North Air Ambulance Service for saving us from what would have been a long and difficult stretcher carry."
