Carlisle City are celebrating after winning the Northern League Division Two title.

Jim Nichols' side clinched top spot on a dramatic final day.

Their 3-0 win over Ryton & Crawcrook Albion, coupled with Heaton Stannington's 2-2 draw with Easington Colliery, handed glory to Jim Nichols' side.

They finished top on goal difference to cap an impressive campaign.

City did their side of the bargain at Gillford Park thanks to goals from Jordan Palmer, Jordan Irving and Arran Bradbury.

They needed Heaton - leaders at the start of the day - to drop points in order to overtake them.

And hopes were raised when Easington moved 2-0 up in the second half.

Heaton fought back and made it 2-2 in the dying moments.

But they couldn't complete their comeback - meaning City could celebrate.

It completes an impressive, high-scoring season for Nichols' side, who also won the Cumberland Cup this week.

The Northern League had taken the title trophy to Easington - but will now arrange to present it to Nichols' team.
