A WELFARE incident on Crown Street in Carlisle has been resolved following police attendance.
In a statement on Twitter at around 9pm, police said: "Cumbria Police are currently in attendance at Crown Street in Carlisle, responding to concern for the welfare of a man at the railway bridge.
"People are asked to avoid the area whilst officers work to resolve the situation safely for all."
But at 9.45pm police said: "This incident has been resolved safely and the man is being assisted by colleagues from NWAS. Thank you to everyone for your patience."
According to National Rail, the incident led to temporary disruptions on the railway.
The organisation initially said that "services may be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised", but it has since said "all lines have been reopened".
